Mama Stitch

The Cummins Theatre is delighted to be bringing Whiskey and Boots’, Mama Stitch, to Merredin this March. Mama Stitch is a storytelling experience celebrating Mums in all their glory and has bucketloads of heart!

Under this unique theatre model, the Mama Stitch artists will spend time gathering real life stories from Merredin locals about their mums, before bringing them to life as headphone verbatim performance accompanied by original music from a live instrument band.

Performed over three weekends, with a different set of stories presented each week, Mama Stitch offers a unique insight into the Community of Merredin, through the personal lens of families.

“I was impressed by the sensitivity, depth and deft handling of personal stories the group had researched, interviewed and represented as a narrative/musical event. The weaving of local stories related to mothers from a range of backgrounds, ages and experiences with relevant musical interludes made the event a pleasure for the audiences…”

Jeremy Blank – Coordinator/Curator Joondalup Art Gallery
