Headlined by festival fave Joel Barker, who will be launching a new single, all dates will also see him joined by recent Song Of The Year nominee Tracey Barnett. Across the venues, Wheatbelt acts supporting the headliners will include Buzzer the Bush Balladeer, Duane Ratima and a special guest from the Narrogin Musicians Association (TBA).
Continuing its partnership with RAC, and with support from the Department of Culture and the Arts, Royalties For Regions and Country Arts WA, WAM’s 2016 Wheatbelt Touring Circuit Tour 5 will roll into Jurien Bay on Friday 18 November at Dobbyn Park; Saturday 19 in Merredin at The Tivoli Room in Cummins Theatre; and finishing Sunday 20 at the Quindanning Inne. All shows are free entry.
As previously announced, this year sees the introduction of the WAMbassadors initiative, which involves select musicians from across the Wheatbelt region engaging with communities during the Wheatbelt Touring Circuit series. The WAMbassadors’ role is to assist the Wheatbelt music networks and audiences to establish financially viable regional tour circuits, all the while creating long-lasting community impacts, including promoting the #elephantinthewheatbelt road safety campaign from RAC.
The Wheatbelt Touring Circuit is a rare program that sees free entry performances in traditional pub venues, community rec centres and clubs throughout the Wheatbelt region, with leading acts from WA’s metro areas combining with a vast array of talented upcoming and established acts from the Wheatbelt.
